Programs

Purpose: The students in the department of German Studies will acquire the knowledge and linguistic tools that will allow a deep understanding of the German speaking cultural world, as it developed in its historical, social, political and geographical contexts. Students will also be familiar with the diversity and the major cultural trends and traditions that compose this world.

BA Program

The field of expertise that the department offers include:  modern German literature, in its European and Global contexts, Literary Theory and Cultural History, in its German context, as a part of the study of culture and literary criticism, and the Jewish-German intellectual and cultural tradition. It is advised to combine this program with a summer-school in a German speaking country, for which stipends are available. 

Organization: The program for BA is part of a double major program. It is possible to switch to a single major program in beginning of the second year.
