Birgit R. Erdle holds the DAAD Walter Benjamin Chair at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She has been a Visiting Professor at Fritz Bauer Institute, Goethe University Frankfurt/Main (Gastprofessur zur Erforschung des Holocaust und der deutsch-jüdischen Geschichte), at the Technical University of Berlin, the University of Vienna, and at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia (USA). Her research focuses on german-jewish literature and intellectual history; correspondences between literature and philosophy in modernity; post-history of National Socialism and the Shoah; relationships between memory, materiality, and knowledge; epistemology of time in literature and theory; poetic/scientific language and exile. Her recent publications include Literarische Epistemologie der Zeit. Lektüren zu Kant, Kleist, Heine und Kafka (Literary Epistemology of Time. Kant, Kleist, Heine, Kafka) (2015), and Theorien über Judenhass – eine Denkgeschichte. Kommentierte Quellenedition 1781-1931, co-edited with Werner Konitzer (2015)
